The AfterMATH

On January 2nd at 10:50am, I posted the following on Facebook:

Tracey is a blogger! If you have time to spare and are in pursuit of some brain-numbing blog posts, check out my new blog (www.traceybdot.blogspot.com). I would love to get your feedback so send me a message with your thoughts, critique and/or ideas. The blog is my creative outlet (no, I’m not very creative!) and is just for fun so don’t go expecting literary magnum opus because you’ll be thoroughly disappointed :p

Well, the results are in! Exactly one week after posting that I’m a blooger, I mean blogger on my Facebook (and subsequent blog post - see Blooger Alert!), trying pathetically to get people to read my blog, my stats for the week are as follows:

Followers
7 (up from 4...a 75% increase!)

My readers (the numbers are based on blog views)
94 in Canada
22 in United States
11 in United Kingdom
3 in Singapore
2 in Ireland
1 in Malaysia

Well...that's it...I give up! It's really not worth writing this blog for such a sparse audience. I think it’s time to hang up my blogging fingers and/or throw in the blogging towel so I can move on to something different....NOT!!! I love this non-paying gig! Blogging makes me happy! I have no idea how or why but it does so I'm going to keep writing even if only 3, 13 or 333 people are reading (or realistically speaking, no one...I will always be my #1 follower!). I tried to think of an analogy for how blogging makes me feel and I came up with the following: my blog makes me feel the same way a new pair of shoes or boots makes you feel...you just feel blissful wearing them whether someone notices your new shoes/boots or not but it feels especially good when someone does :)

Wow...I can’t believe I have readers in Canada, US, UK, Singapore, Ireland and Malaysia! The only thing that comes to mind is something Queen Latifah says in Last Holiday: “Make me international!” (P.S. You need to see the movie!). Here's a shout-out to my friends in England: why the hell do I have a bigger audience in the US than in the UK when I only know one person in the US but know many of you in the UK?  Hmmm....could a friendly competition between the US and UK be imminent???  I will re-post "Tracey is a blogger" on Facebook at some point the week of January 17th and will post the stats again the week of January 24th for us to see who is keeping up with the Kardashians my blog.

Now I can’t help but wonder if there's a way to track whether or not my FH (future husband - John Cusack) has read my blog. Nah, it's not possible! If he had read my blog, I'm sure he would have sent me a message, right? Ah crap, maybe it's my photo!

Back to the stats...so I posted those stats because a) I love numbers (I know you’re all pretty clever but I have to ask: did you get it...afterMATH?) and b) I think it's freaky fascinating that this blog site can provide me with information regarding the location of my readers (I even have stats on the type of operating systems and browsers you’re using to read my blog!). So I guess Big Brother really is watching!!! Regardless of who is watching me write my blog or watching you read it, I’d love for you to share my blog with your family, friends, co-workers and anyone who may be interested in reading it! Together, we can make the world a better place :)

P.S. Thanks to all of you for your support, your kind words of encouragement and for inspiring me every day to write! Kudos to those who have posted comments...the three of you know who you are! Now I wonder what I have to write about to get more people to post comments on my blog...religion, politics or The Bachelor?

  1. I love reading your blog...you sort of get into a morning loop with this blog-thing. I read about 5 or 6 of them, and then head off to start my day. Nothing better than a good blog and a cuppa coffee!
